Activities – 2007
- Lodged our submission with Hurstville City Council for "Recommendations for improvements to Webbs Dam" and provided details of same together with Councils responses to local State and Federal Government members.
Note: We await the availability of funding from Councils future budgets or other sources to further this project
- Conveyed residents concerns to Hurstville City Council regarding:
Elm Street Footpath
Safety issues at Chivers Hill
Relocation of bus shelter
Clean up and ongoing maintenance of Lugarno Boardwalk area
Declining tree population
- Provided representatives to attend the two meetings of the Tree Management Working Party held by Hurstville City Council
- Submitted an application for funding for an element of our "Recommendations for improvements to Webbs Dam" to WSN Environmental Solutions Grass Roots Program – unfortunately we were not successful on this occasion
- Maintained co-operation with Lugarno Public School by promoting their activities through our newsletter and website
- Hosted a promotional stall at the Lugarno Public Schools Water Awareness Expo held during Education Week. The stall highlighted the LPA's involvement in the community both past and present
- Maintained co-operation with other community organisations - Oatley Flora and Fauna Conservation Society Inc., Bushcare, Lugarno Lions and Lugarno Evening VIEW
- Submitted nominations for Kevin Greene's Annual Georges River Community Awards and Hurstville City Councils Young Sportsperson of the Year for 2008
- Participated in Clean Up Australia Day 2007 at Lugarno Boardwalk
- Participated in Boggywell Creek (bottomless) boat Regatta at Lugarno Lions Festival
In addition to our four general meetings, the executive committee continued to work behind the scenes holding five committee meetings during the year. Four newsletters were produced providing information to residents and continuing support to local organisations.
